Roses After Death

Garment by israel mccorkle - 1/17/2026

Roses After Death is a hauntingly poetic wearable sculpture and garment that is a symbol of beauty born from decay. Built on a fitted white long-sleeve top, the garment is wrapped in distorted clothing hangers that have been bent, twisted, and reshaped to contour the body like an exoskeleton.

Artificial red roses are threaded and suspended throughout the structure, emerging from the metal framework as if growing from bones. Some roses pierce outward from the shoulders and torso, while others rest against the chest and back, giving the illusion that life is blooming from something once lifeless. The deep red roses contrast sharply against the white fabric, evoking love, loss, and rebirth.

The hangers act as both armor and cage, wrapping around the body in sharp, chaotic curves while shaping the garment into a sculptural form, The Romantic decay.

Positioned between fashion, performance art, and sculpture, Roses After Death is not just a garment, it is a visual narrative. It speaks of the end of life, and beauty of celebrating the lovely moments when that loved one was alive.
